When I first read about the Snow Leopard in the story Hatyapuri of Feluda by Satyajit Ray during my childhood, I was determined to have atleast a look at the animal if ever possible.
During my recent trip planning, I came to know that we can see snow leopard in the zoo situated at Darjeeling. On doing some research through the internet, I found that the Darjeeling Zoo has some unique and rare animals and birds which rarely you will be able to see at any zoo in India.
We decided to visit the zoo during our trip. The entire zoo is spread across the hilly side and you have to climb up many stairs and sloping areas to see most of the animals. Coming to the snow leopard. They are situated at a cage where the distance is quite far to see them but you can clearly see them. There were 2-3 in the cage and one was sitting whose photo you will see below. I tried capturing the shot in mobile. For the snow leopard, you have to climb up first to see some animals and then while coming back towards the Indian Black bear which is near the entry of the zoo, you shall be able to see the snow leopard on the way.
I could barely capture a glimpse of the beautiful animal through my phone.
